One more reason why it’s important to eat vegetables. Recent research in America indicates, low fiber intake is associated with increased risk of heart disease and diabetes, even among teenagers. Health experts recommend, eating habits since the fibers have grown children and adolescents to avoid a greater health risk later in life.
The study analysis showed that teens who do not eat enough fiber tend to have larger stomachs and high levels of inflammation in their blood. The second condition is a major risk factor for heart disease and diabetes. However, the researchers warn, the relationship between low dietary fiber and risk of heart disease and diabetes in adolescents does not prove causality.
In these findings, note also that the low-fiber diet associated with high levels of body fat in young women, is not the case in men.
“The message is simple teens need to eat more fruits, vegetables and grains. We need to encourage and advice for teenagers in order to increase fiber intake,” said Dr. Norman Pollock, bone biologists and researchers from Georgia Health Science University.
Researchers told, every teenager needs to get a better understanding of the relationship and the risk of diet, lack of exercise and obesity.
